7/26/2023 0 Comments Persona 5 vs persona 5 strikersSimply put, Persona 5 Strikers isn’t just a spinoff of Persona 5 in the way that the Persona Q games are to the mainline series. I’m going to break down exactly how the spinoff compares to Persona 5 - and if fans of that game will feel at home or not. However, Persona 5 Strikers actually has much more in common with the Persona games than the Warriors series. And that goes double due to Persona 5 Strikers being a collaboration with Omega Force, the developer behind the Warriors franchise. Whichever one you choose, you’ll have a great experience either way.Persona series fans are likely expecting something notably different from a spinoff of Persona 5. The version of the game you should get depends on whether you prioritize the graphics and speed over the portability. In order to compensate for the lower quality, the Switch version has a higher color contrast than the PS4 version which may be preferred by some people, and of course, the Switch is portable which is the biggest reason why one would buy the Switch version of the game. The game was full of bugs and the character models were lackluster- animations for the characters were constantly reused between them and everything was made lazily. Despite being made and published by such big companies, you can tell that there was little to no real effort put into making sure the game looked decent. The co-developer, Omega Force, is somewhat notorious for its low-quality co-developed games in 2019, they helped develop Fire Emblem: Three Houses for Intelligent Systems. When compared to the PS4 version, the outlines look significantly less crisp. The Switch version does not have good anti-aliasing, which means that the edges of the models appear very jagged. On average, the Switch took twice as long to load as the PS4 and about 3.8 times as long as the PS5 The loading times are also a bit faster on this version than on the Switch. If you’re using a PS5 or a PS4 Pro, the game can even run at 4k. On the PS4, the game runs at a constant 1080p and 60fps with some slight dips at busy parts. This means that it will not let you sacrifice the graphical resolution for the game to run smoother as the system is already performing at its peak to give you both at only slightly compromised quality. It is important to note that unlike the PS4 version, the settings in the Switch version of the game do not allow you to prioritize graphics over frame rate or vice versa. The graphics on the Switch’s screen don’t look too bad since it’s quite small. Because it is running at a lower resolution, handheld mode runs a bit smoother and stays around 30 fps more consistently than when it’s docked. In terms of resolution, the Switch puts out 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld. Both of these versions are completely viable options to play the game: however, there are certainly some major differences in graphical capabilities. While it is obvious that the Steam version has the best performance, there are more comparisons to be made about the graphical performance of the two console versions of the game. Despite spending almost four years in development, it falls short of the graphical standards it should have reached. Since it’s a hack-and-slash, there is a lot going on in the game at once and it is important that the system can handle everything happening. The game is a crossover between Atlus’s hit JRPG Persona 5 and Koei Tecmo’s hack-and-slash series, Dynasty Warriors. Persona 5 Strikers was released on February 23rd for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
